"Diploma in Functional Arabic" |
|
|
Arabic as a
spoken language has its own significance. In the recent
past, it has been observed that the products of Madrasas,
inspite of studying Arabic as language and literature for
several years are not well acquainted with functional
Arabic, hence they are unable to become skilled language
professionals. To make them relevant to new scenario and
enrich their functional Arabic, Council has launched a “Two
Years Diploma Course in Functional Arabic” from April 2002.
This is an important scheme of the Government of India. The
Council feels that it is increasingly important that the
objective of Modernization of Madrasas is complemented with
the instructions in Arabic so as at spoken level, the students achieve a level of excellence. This course will
also enhance the job prospects in the field of translation
and interpretation.
The Council has prepared textbooks in 8 Modules (each Module
consisting of 8 lessons) and separate Guide Book for each
two Modules for teaching Arabic to Non-Arabic Speakers more
specially to the students of Madrasas. The course has been
prepared under the supervision of Prof. Shafique Ahmed Khan
Nadvi, Deptt. of Arabic, Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi
-110025
The Council had sent communication about launching of the
course to about 150 voluntary organizations whom Council
provided Grant-in-Aid (Arabic/Persian) for part time
teaching in Urdu and Arabic/Persian. There was an
overwhelming response particularly from Madrasas.
At ppresent the Council has accreditated 189 “Arabic Study
Centers” where classes are conducted. Students are registered in the Diploma Course each year
through these Study Centers. |
