Diploma Course in Urdu

National Council for Promotion of
Urdu Language is running one year Diploma Course in Urdu Language. The course is
offered through Hindi and English media. The registration in this course is two
methods.
1. DIRECT ADMISSION THROUGH NCPUL
The learners who are interested in Urdu Diploma Course from NCPUL directly, they may enroll with NCPUL after sending a D.D. for Rs. 350/- in favour of "NCPUL, New Delhi", to the Council. There is no contact class programme for direct individual learners. Such learners shall be provided additional materials i.e. A Course in Urdu Pronunciation (a text book accompanied by two audio CDs). Direct learners will have to mention the name and address of their nearby Urdu Study Centres in their admission forms for final written examination.
2. ADMISSION THROUGH URDU STUDY CENTRES
To provide course material and instructions at the doorstep of learners NCPUL established Urdu Study Centres across the country. Presently there are 648 such centres. Contact classes are arranged in these centres. Classroom teaching is provided to the learners enrolled in these centres so that they learn the language properly. A fee of Rs.200/- only will be payable by the Learner at the time of seeking the application form alongwith prospectus for registration at their respective centres. (No other fee will be charged from the students).
3. DURATION OF THE COURSE
Diploma Course in Urdu Language is of one-year duration (April – March) starting from first April every year.
4. STRUCTURE OF DIPLOMA COURSE
The Urdu Diploma Course has been divided into three stages.
Ø First Stage:
In the first stage Urdu script is being taught through Hindi and English medium to the learner. After completion of this stage the Learner is expected to read and write in Urdu script along with a certificate level of proficiency in Urdu prose. Prescribed book is as follows:-
i. Basic Text Book __ Urdu For All
Response Sheets __ 1 to 3
Number of Assignments :
In this stage three assignments based on 20 lessons, i (1 to 6), ii (7 to 14) and iii (15 to 20) will be completed by the learners.
Duration of Assignments :
Learners have to complete these three assignments within four months (April to July) and submit to their respective centres.
Checked assignments will be returned to learners and books of second stage provided to the learners.
Ø Second Stage:
After assuming that by now learner can read and write Urdu script, the lessons specially written in easy Urdu are given to the learner. Prescribed book is as follows.
ii. Basic Text Book __ Ibtedai Urdu
Response Sheets __ 4 to 7
Number of Assignments :
At this stage four assignments based on 27 lessons iv (1 to 6), v (7 to 13), vi (14 to 20) and vii (21 to 27) shall be completed by the learners.
Duration of Assignments :
Learners have to complete these four assignments within four months (August to November) and submit to their respective centres.
Checked assignments will be returned to learners and books of third stage will be provided to the learners.
Ø Third Stage:
The third stage will enable the Learner to graduate to study the language and literature. Set of prescribed books are as follows.
iii. Basic Text Book __ Intekhab-e Nasr-e Urdu
Response Sheet __ 8 to 10
iv. Basic Text Book __ Aasan Urdu Shairi
Response Sheet __ 11 & 12
Number of Assignments :
At this stage total five assignments based on 43 lessons i.e. Prose viii (1 to 10), ix (11 to 19), x (20 to 28) and Poetry xi (1 to 7) and xii (8 to 15) will be completed by the learners.
Duration of Assignments :
Learners have to complete these five
assignments within four months (December to March) and submit to their
respective centres. Checked
assignments will be returned to learners.
5. WRITTEN EXAMINATION :
A final written examination will be held in the end of session.
6. AWARD OF DIPLOMA
Diploma will be awarded to the successful learners in both the written examination and 12 assignments by the Council at the end of the course and sent through registered post to the respective centres.
